ENABLING THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED
Snehabhavan Special School was launched on October 21, 1996 in a rented building with just 4 students and 1 teacher. By the grace of God, it has now advanced phenomenally with 45 students, 7 teachers and 7 non-teaching staff into a full-fledged institution.
Even though it follows the working days of mainstream schools, there is an Adapted Syllabus prepared by NIMH to deal with the mentally retarded students. Each student is given utmost importance and curriculum is designed accordingly. A check list is used to record the academic performance of the students. It helps to understand the current level of performance of the students, which further helps to arrange the educational activities in their future.
By implementing the various techniques of behavior modification, behavior problems of the students are rectified and their social skills are enhanced at the same time. There are teachers holdingB.Ed & Diploma in Special Education to give individual care and training to the students. We provide the services of Counselor, Physiotherapist & Speech Therapist. Also, there are competent teachers for music, dance and yoga to cherish their physical and mental capability. Our children areused to winprizes in various competitions conducted on the occasion of the World Disabled Day.
Every year the class starts in the second week of May. Training is been given by categorizing students into pre-primary, primary, secondary and pre-vocational streams.
